A bill that would prohibit recognizing same-sex marriages contracted in other states died yesterday.
Maryland’s Judiciary Committee voted 12-8 against the out-of-state gay marriage ban.
The Judiciary Chairmen Joseph Vallario said he was not surprised by the bill’s death. He said 12 of the committee members last year co-sponsored legislation to legalize same-sex marriage in the state.
Despite the sponsorship of a majority of the 22-member committee, the bill proposing same-sex marriage never made it out of committee.
